Ovariectomy

Definition:

Ovariectomy (OVX) is the surgical removal of the ovaries from the female reproductive tract.

Outcome:

Loss of the ovaries reduces circulating estrogen levels in female animals.

Translational Studies:

The ovariectomy in laboratory research animals simulates lowered circulating estrogen levels seen in aging, hypoestrogenemia, osteoporosis, menopause, and endocrine disorders with reproductive consequences.

Our Services

At AniLocus, the ovariectomy model in rodents is used in preclinical in vivo research for metabolism, cardiovascular disease, obesity, oncology, fertility, neurological disorders, and more.
