Introduction
Unilateral 6-OHDA lesion to medial forebrain bundle, striatum, or substantia nigra is used for model induction of Parkinson’s Disease in multiple animal models including rodents and C. elegans. The lesion degenerates dopaminergic neurons within the nigrostriatal pathway causing a substantial loss of dopaminergic neurons in the striatum, severe motor deficits, and non-motor behavioral symptoms.
